New Jersey Legislature - Constituent Relations Specialist
Assemblyperson is seeking a Constituent Relations Specialist to work with the Chief of Staff in
managing all aspects of a successful outreach plan for the Assemblyperson's legislative district.
This will include establishing relationships with people at various departments and agencies to
assist with constituent casework. Daily responsibilities will likely include answering phones,
scheduling, engaging with core constituencies, meeting with constituents, writing letters, and
maintaining spreadsheets. The Constituent Relations Specialist will play a key role in facilitating
events in the Assemblyperson's district.
Specific duties include but are not limited to:
Providing timely responses to constituent inquiries.
Developing an outreach plan for the member in consultation with the Chief of Staff to
ensure a sustained and comprehensive outreach plan is in place.
Facilitating constituent-based events, meetings, town halls, and informational listening
sessions.
Interacting with departments and agencies to rapidly respond to developing concerns from
constituents.
Identifying potential opportunities to organize outreach efforts to constituents and
community organizations for legislative initiatives.
Drafting constituent letters, flyers, and social media posts for district office events.
Maintaining constituent tracking database and other contacts lists as directed by the Chief
of Staff or Assemblyperson.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Exceptional interpersonal skills
Knowledge and experience in working in legislative districts and diverse communities
Strong writing, organizational, and time management skills
Works well in a team setting
Ability to attend evening and weekend community events and meetings
Attention to detail
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Office Suite, and various Social Media Platforms
Education and experience:
A Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of one year of related experience is preferred.
Location:
The Assemblyperson's primary office will be located within their legislative district. If you are
only willing to commute daily to specific counties, please list those counties when you email

Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L 2011, Chapter 70), applicant must be a New Jersey resident or
establish residency within one year of employment.
Physical demands:
The Constituent Relations Specialist must hold a valid driver’s license to attend events and will
be required to assist in the physical set-up and preparation for special events and activities.
