Summary:
Reporting to the Senior Director of Information Technology, the Systems Administrator Project Specialist will be part of a team supporting the desktops, laptops, servers, applications, and network of the New Jersey State Library and the Talking Book and Braille Center. This role involves analyzing requirements, creating reports and documentation, resolving problems, implementing hardware and software solutions, and responding to helpdesk requests.
Responsibilities:
- Administer Linux and Windows servers, including deployment, configuration, and updates.
- Support various applications in use.
- Manage the Microsoft 365 tenant, including Teams and Teams telephony.
- Work with Active Directory and Group Policy.
- Assist with laptop imaging and deployment.
- Monitor and manage the Sophos antivirus platform.
- Maintain thin clients and public PCs using Envisionware.
- Manage the Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution.

- Ability to manage projects and document internal procedures using tools like JIRA and Confluence.
Examples of Work Include:
- Review and respond to alerts (e.g., Azure account risk reports, server resource usage notices).
- Configure and upgrade server applications.
- Document processes and develop or refine Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Oversee asset management, including device lifecycle and warranty renewals.
- Respond to requests via our helpdesk ticketing system.
- Handle data restores using Veeam.
- Collaborate with vendors and teammates on new hardware/software solutions and license renewals.
Requirements:
- Education: Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor's degree supplemented by a Master's degree in a field related to the position, or equivalency as determined by the appointing authority.
- Experience: Two years of professional experience in a field directly related to the functions of the position, or equivalency as determined by the appointing authority.
- Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute required experience on a year-for-year basis (30 credit hours are considered one year of college).
Work Hours:
- 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM or 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
