DESCRIPTION:Celebrating Unity through Community Arts is a literary full-day workshop of performance poetry and literature. It includes readings\, writing prompts and more. 9:30-11AM session: Ekphrastic Poetry facilitated by Ameerah Shabazz-Bilal: Ameerah Shabazz-Bilal is an award-winning poet from Newark\, NJ. She is the recipient of the Maria Mazziotti Gillan Literary Service Award\, the 2022 recipient of the Every Kinda Lady - 'Her Story' award for poetry\, and is a member of The Academy of American Poets. Ameerah has a unique talent for telling stories through poetry and Visual Arts. Ameerah Shabazz-Bilal is a Poet\, Visual Artist\, Teacher\, Photographer\, and the founder/facilitator of - "When Women Speak" and "When People Speak". 11-12:30PM session: Growing beyond your Comfort Zone facilitated by RescuePoetix | Susan Justiniano\, Susan Justiniano | RescuePoetix is a bilingual globally published and performing poet\, through print\, digital\, public art\, audio\, and video. She is a twice honored Poet Laureate: The first Puerto Rican woman Poet Laureate of Jersey City\, NJ (2020-2022) and State of New Jersey Beat Poet Laureate (2022-2024). As an Arts Advocate\, Teaching Artist\, and event producer she has developed a body of work that is community focused.
